NSW RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION – SUPPORT
OF RACING NSW
The NSW Racehorse Owners Association today urged Racing
NSW to continue its
strong fight on behalf of the NSW Thoroughbred Racing Industry to ensure
the financial
viability of industry participants.
The Association said that it was fully
supportive of the initial action of Racing NSW to
impose a 1.5% levy on the turnover of all wagering operators utilising
NSW Race Fields
and now supports the Board in its strong legal defence of its actions.
Racing
NSW has shown a strong commitment to the interests of racing industry
participants and had it not taken the action it has already taken to
date the industry
would be entering an uncertain period.
Racehorse owners can only continue
to participate in the industry if prizemoney returns
remain at their current levels at best. Any loss of revenue and therefore
prizemoney
could see a mass exodus of owners from racing with a negative flow
on effect on all
participants.
The Association therefore believes that Racing NSW should
continue with its strong
resolve in seeking to obtain a fair and equitable return from corporate
bookmakers and
betting exchanges.
