Other awards to be presented on the night include the T J Smith Award, the George Moore Award, the Theo Green Award, and the “big one”, the Luxbet.com NSW Champion Horse of the Year.

One of the highlights in a night with numerous features, will be the presentation of the much sought after Bart Cummings Medal. This award named after industry icon Bart Cummings in recognition of his contribution to the thoroughbred racing industry over many years, acknowledges consistent, outstanding performances amongst jockeys and trainers at NSW metropolitan race meetings through the racing season with points being determined by a panel of leading racing media figures.

The night is in aid of Redkite – Australia’s leading cancer support charity who provide valuable assistance to children with cancer and their families and we are confident that everyone will “dig deep” to help this very worthwhile cause.

Without giving too much away about the night, some of the fantastic items that will feature in the Monster and Silent Auctions will include:-

  • an incredible trip to Royal Ascot 2011 (the second home for Champion Australian Gallopers) – the prize includes two return Business Class tickets to Europe flying with the multi-award winning airline, Emirates, internationally acclaimed for its superb level of inflight service together with a Royal Ascot Tour package from Ambassador Travel
  • a handbag made from Acacia wood and encrusted with hundreds of Swarovski crystals by one of the world’s most creative and innovative designers, Timmy Woods, whose handbags are carried and collected by celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross, Barbie Benton, Jody Fisher, Melanie Griffith and Hillary Clinton as well as being seen on Sex and the City
  • three nights accommodation at Laucala Island, Fiji – an island paradise and a destination dream – normally priced at US$4,000 per night this is the ultimate in luxury
  • the chance to be a Winemaker for a Day at the Taylors Winery in the Clare Valley, South Australia
  • three exquisite sculptures of Bosnian Queen Katarina, created by the classically trained Addis, photographed and framed beautifully
  • an intimate dinner for ten people – comprising a three course plated dinner
  • a Perfect Vision iLASIK Package – which includes an iLASIK treatment, Perfect Vision lifetime enhancement guarantee, a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and other extras.

The Silent Auction item categories include: Accommodation, Art, Electronics, Horse Products, Jewellery, Memorabilia, Millinery and Technology, to name but a few.

There will also be a raffle with exceptional prizes conducted on the night and a “lucky door prize” will also be awarded.

NSWROA are delighted to welcome back the following sponsors to this year’s event: Luxbet.com, Racing NSW, the Sydney Turf Club, the Australian Jockey Club, Count Charitable, TVN, Gow Gates Insurance Brokers, New Zealand Bloodstock, Emirates, Ambassador Travel, Carrazzo Consulting, Tooheys and Taylors Wines. We would also like to welcome aboard to this year’s event Patinack Farm as a first time sponsorship participant and also thank those companies and individuals who kindly donated prizes to the Monster Auction and the Silent Auction.

It goes without saying that we are indebted to our wonderful sponsors and on behalf of Redkite we thank them for their continued support of Racing’s Night of Champions.

I am pleased to advise that NSWROA has again arranged for a return bus service to the event for guests. The bus will travel between Randwick and Rosehill and bookings for this service will be essential.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the feature entertainment of the night will be none other than the incredible David Campbell. Regarded as one of Australia’s favourite cabaret and Broadway performers, David takes time out of his very busy schedule to treat us with his unique style.

So if you haven’t already done so, reserve your place now at a truly fantastic night.
