Grafton CEO Passes Away

Wednesday, 2 April 2008: Dynamic young racing administrator Dale Thompson passed away over night after a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife Lisa and two children Jacob and Zoe.

Aged 37, Thompson began his career in racing administration with the Wyong Race Club in the early 1990's where he was tutored by the late John Varley.

Thompson has been at the helm of the Clarence River Jockey Club at Grafton for almost ten years. Under his guidance the Club has won numerous awards as the leading TAB Club in NSW and for it's famous July Racing Carnival.

Funeral details are yet to be announced.

On behalf of the President, Mr Stephen van Eyk, board members and all members of the NSWROA we would like to pass on our deepest sympathy to Lisa Thompson and family on the passing of Dale Thompson.

Dale was a well know figure through the NSW Racing Industry and will be sadly missed by all.
