FAVOURITE RACECOURSE OF THE YEAR AWARD Outgoing NSWROA President Rob Albon today announced the inception of the Allied Express Transport / NSWROA Favourite Racecourse of the Year Award. Sponsored by Allied Express Transport and voted for by NSWROA members, the award is to recognise the racecourse in NSW that provides the best and most enjoyable race-day experience for owners. “We are delighted with the support from Allied Express Transport”, Albon said, “and are very proud to have brought another new sponsor to racing”. He explained that the intention is to honour the most owner-friendly course in the state, with members of the NSWROA to vote via the Association’s website or by fax direct to its office in Sydney. “An example of the kind of criteria that owners may take into account will be posted on the website and publicised in our Newsletter”, Albon said, “but owners will be free to make their own judgement on the criteria that are important to them”. He emphasised that the award covers all racecourses in NSW, metropolitan, provincial and country. For the inaugural award to cover the 2004-2005 season, voting will take place during July and August. “We would hope to be able to present the winning course with the trophy at an appropriate race meeting in October”, he said. The award is to be voted on and presented annually. “Racecourses have made great strides in the treatment of owners in recent years”, said Albon, “but we are sure that a trophy celebrating the owners’ favourite course will be a powerful incentive to all racecourse executives to keep up the good work”. Allied Express Transport is Australia’s largest privately-owned transport services company. Contact: Rob Albon
