NSWROA Welcomes Changes to Autumn Carnival Programming NSWROA President Rob Albon today expressed his support for the programming changes announced for the Sydney Autumn Carnival in 2006. “ This kind of co-operation between race clubs to ensure a more logical progression of races, especially over 1600 metres and further, is very much in the interests of owners and responds to the outcome of surveys we have conducted of our members”, he said. “ We look forward to further growth in prestige of what will now be the Randwick Guineas and congratulate the STC and AJC on the initiative to improve programming at the carnival”. Albon added that 1600 metres is the traditional classic distance for ‘Guineas’ races. “
My only other comment”, he said, “is why wait another year?
A good idea should be adopted as soon as possible. The condensed AJC
Carnival was brought forward by a year when that format had been agreed. Contact: Rob Albon
