NSWROA Strategy Adopted in Victoria

NSWROA President Rob Albon said today that if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Racing Victoria has paid a hefty compliment to the NSWROA.

In announcing a $3.6 million strategy to encourage ownership, retain existing owners and enhance the race day experience the Racing Victoria programme bears a striking resemblance to the NSWROA submission to the Racing NSW Strategic Plan. Most of the NSWROA submission was adopted by Racing NSW and with Victoria following the same lines Albon said that it is gratifying that the racing industry is reaching consensus on the importance of ownership and the critical issues affecting race horse owners

The strategy recognises that a strong voice for owners is good for racing and that a strong owners body is essential to the industry. Albon commented that RVL realises that fragmentation of representation of owners makes it difficult to deliver benefits to all sectors of the industry.

In NSW, the NSWROA has made recommendations to Racing NSW that criteria be established for representative industry bodies, in the Strategic Plan and subsequent submissions. A response from Racing NSW is still awaited.
