Some of the things that the NSWROA has achieved to date:

  • Cost free racing across NSW.
  • Amendment to race ballot conditions so that original entries take precedence over extended nominations.
  • Starters Incentives paid for non-prize money winning horses.
  • Abolition of the Placed Rider Payment at Metropolitan race courses.
  • Release of prize money to Owners prior to swab clearance (except for major races).
  • Changes to race programming including increased opportunities to race before open company, additional races for fillies and mares and more staying races.
  • Establishment of Owners Rooms at Randwick, Rosehill, Canterbury and Warwick Farm race courses including car parking for NSWROA members at Royal Randwick and Warwick Farm.
  • Waiver of STC joining fee for NSWROA members.
  • Free entry to Provincial and Country race clubs for members.
  • Retained post-race interviews of winning Owners when under threat at metropolitan tracks.
  • Organises and promotes the annual ‘Racing’s Night of Champions’ and many other social events.
  • Input to Racing NSW Strategic Plan.
  • Representation of owners in RIPAC.
  • Membership of NSW BOBS Management Committee.
  • Concluded a recommended format contract with ATA for training horses eliminating onerous conditions adverse to Owners.
  • Runs a fully manned office.

NSWROA current objectives include:

  • Continued monitoring and review of race programming.
  • Free entry for owners at all racecourses in NSW.
  • Introduction of Selling Races on a trial basis.
  • Increased starter’s rebates paid down to tenth place at all race courses.
  • Institution of basic platform of owners race day benefits.
  • Reduced cost of race club membership for NSWROA members.
  • Increased program of social events including, Race Day Luncheons, and Golf Day.
  • Introduction of alternative dispute resolution (mediation) in conjunction with Australian Trainers Association.
  • Promotion of full and fair disclosure in the sale of horses, including pre-sale x-rays.
